Hi Scotty! I'm from the Philippines. Really appreciate the content you put out.

I need your advice on which car would you prefer for me. My family currently owns the 2006 manual Honda Crv we've only replaced the exhaust and the ac compressor. Almost at two hundred thousand kilometers. We just use it for groceries and basically haul the family around for vacations and other errands, nothing too serious like towing and off-roading. Now we're looking to get a new automaticdiesel car. Below are the links to my top SUV choices in my country. Also were looking to keep the car for about 10-15 years.

Our budget can only reach up to the Q variant of the Fortuner SRP 1,998,000 (PHP), and the S Diesel for the CRV SRP 1,888,000 (PHP).

We're looking for:
- Safety
- Fuel efficient
- Reliable
- Cheap to maintain
- Good potential resale value

Thanks in advance!

The Toyota D4-D, BY FAR!!

The Honda diesels are relatively new engines & their long term reliability is still unknown.

Get the Fortuner out of those two.

Hmm, I see. Thanks for your input.

If it was petrol, you couldn’t go wrong with either. But if it’s diesel, I would pick the Fortuner every time.

Pretty much any car built past 2014 or so has a significant safety advantage over anything built before that. Air bags and other safety equipment has come a long way. I would definitely choose the Toyota as well over the honda... even if it was a gas option.
