Which powertrain is better in these minivans? Toyotas 2.5 hybrid with ecvt or Hondas 3.5 with 10 speed automatic? Which will most likely last longer?
Sienna by far. Odyssey is pile of junk.
Reviewers seem to find good and bad in both machines, but Honda seems to win by a small margin. Some reviewers commented they'd like to see the Toyota hybrid drive in the Honda, which would make the best possible van. Other reviewers outright favor the Honda. But virtually every reviewer commented that legendary Honda reliability was a notable factor in selecting Honda. Toyota just wasn't good enough.
The following seems to be a fairly objective family review. However, others are certainly available.

Odyssey in this case. The 10 speed is doing ok so far.
New gen Sienna is using a new powertrain, hybrid and CVT. You should avoid being the guniea pig.
Now previous gen sienna vs new odyssey, sienna no question.

So should I consider 2020 Sienna instead of 2021 Odyssey. Is the Toyota 8 speed good enough?
@Adamupton
Both are doing well, but odyssey has major quality issues. Just looked at a new odyssey with the cargo trunk FILLED with water due to poor seals and overall build quality.
Sienna is the better choice, their 8-speed is doing fine.
