"U" codes are communications errors. You have a problem with your battery voltage or circuitry and your electronic power steering.
Have you load tested your battery and alternator? Low voltage can make computer modules funny in the head.
If those check out OK find a good independent mechanic who can properly diagnose the problem. Dealers should be avoided except for warranty or recall work. Stay away from chain shops (Pep Boys, Midas, etc.) as wel
