So my wife has a 2020 Sienna and she loves it. However we are both tempted at the new shiny bells and whistles of the new 21 Hybrid. The hesitation is that it’s a first year of the new design. Should we stake our choice on Toyota reliability or wait and see how the van turns out?

It’s generally a bad idea to buy any brand new model from any OEM (even Toyota). I’d wait a few years & let the product get time tested.
Plus you already have a brand new Sienna anyway.
With all that said, Toyota does make the best hybrid systems in the world.
