They’re both unproven. But going by their past record, I’ll go with the Tacoma.

Historically the Tacomas are a lot more trouble free than the Rangers.

Tacoma, you’re only engine option is a 2.3L four cylinder EcoBoost and no manual transmission option. I got a non turbo four cylinder Tacoma manual transmission Tacoma for $2000 less than a Ranger.

Get the Tacoma. The resale is going to be much better.
It will also be more reliable in the long run
