I own a 2007 Toyota Rav 4 Limited. 6 cylinder, 2wd, 332000 miles. 14 years with very few issues. Still runs well. Like a Top! It has the power when I need it. I'm now looking to purchase an Avalon. What model should I look at to replicate my current Rav 4. Solid transmission, Awesome acceleration. You know, the kick I need when getting on the highway and when passing. I'm not buying the Rav again because the new ones are 4 bangers. No Power! sleepy acceleration. Do Avalons have dependable transmissions and engines like my Rav. Last question, Should I even consider a Hybrid , or avoid like the pandemic. Thanks for your honest thoughts.
Toyota Avalon’s are very solid, reliable vehicles that have the V6 engine and often overlooked. They are a little more luxurious than the Camry, too, if you care. Some MY2005-2016 had VVT-I oil line that could burst, so if possible avoid those. In your title you mention MY2021 which makes it the 3rd year in this new generation. Of the choices there go for the 3.5L V6 (also shared with the Camry, Lexus ES, and other Toyota’s). For the exact trim - look at the brochure and see which features/options you really want. Don’t get something (pay extra) for something you don’t need. Also don’t bother with the hybrid, especially if keeping for long term. Long term reliability is unknown with the 8-speed AT which came out for 2019 MY Avalon. If it were me I would look at a previous generation Avalon esp. the final years (2017 and 2018 MY) with the kinks worked out - save some money, too.
Thanks for your help.
This fellow is a Master Toyota diagnostician. He's honest and responsive. I'd throw that question his way:
Thanks for your help.
The Avalon is a well made vehicle. I would avoid the hybrid version and stick to the regular gasoline V6.
Thanks for your help
