Go with the Lexus if you plan to keep for as long as possible.

For me the only real selling point Acura has over Lexus right now is SH-AWD -- otherwise they just have a modestly sportier driving experience at a pretty significant cost to interior quality.

That being said, if buying a new vehicle makes financial sense for you (you have money to burn) and you aren't likely to want to keep it for longer than 5 years or so, I wouldn't pay luxury prices for either. IF this is the case and you're not looking to buy something and drive it past 100k miles past the warranty, I would recommend test driving more than just the 2 and be absolutely sure that's what you want. It is something you'll be spending a good amount of time in for years after all.

It's very possible you could find something less reliable that's still within your price range. I personally bought a new Toyota Camry recently and somewhat regret the decision -- my previous vehicle was a Fiesta ST and I just miss the manual + sportiness a bit more than I expected. (That being said it's still an excellent vehicle and I love the technology, so it's not at all that I dislike it, more just that I wonder if I would've enjoyed something else more)

TL;DR I would take my time and test drive as many potential vehicles that meet your needs as possible, both luxury and non-luxury brands, you don't want to spend $50k on something and realize a month or two later that it might not be the thing you would enjoy most.

They’re both brand new vehicles, so the long term reliability is unknown. With that said, you’ve on the right track choosing Honda/Toyota products.

Test drive them both & see which one you like better.

Personally, I’d go MDX because it has the newer body style that just came out. The current RX body style has been out for sometime.

Well, the 2022 MDX is redesigned, so I would wait till it's been out for long enough if u wanna keep ur cars long. Lexus RX350 is a great buy but don't buy the RX350 L since the third row is pretty useless and it's more expensive. If you really need the third row, get the MDX by leasing it and if the MDX runs really well after the lease is up, you could buy it out, but Lexus for the longest life.
