2022 car or 2013

Hello and welcome! Please bear in mind this site uses English. Translation via the Mozilla Firefox "translate" feature is below:

Hello from Bulgaria.

My grandson wants to ask Scotty or one of the moderators a question. He bought a new Dacia Sandero 2022 with a turbocharged engine of 1.0 liters and a manual gearbox. The car now has 100 000 kilometers. Now it's paid off and he's thinking of buying a used luxury car.

What do you think about Mercedes-Benz C class 2013 with less than 150 000 km? Manual or automatic gearbox? Gasoline or diesel? How long can such a car be reliable? Is the idea even bad? Are there any other options besides Lexus that would be better? Lexus is not so popular in Europe, and its parts are expensive.

Or should he keep his 3-year-old car?

Dacia is not sold in the U.S., from what I understand it has been a budget Renault line since 1999. Renault is not sold here either but has a back-door presence via Nissan.

Old luxury cars tend to become endless money pits due to the complexity of their advanced features which start to break down as they age. Of course repairs on a Mercedes Benz may be less expensive in Europe than they are here. Still, unless he is having problems with it I'd keep the Dacia and in the meantime if he really wants something more luxurious save his money until he can afford something newer.
