Scotty,

Should my father buy a 2024 Tunda? He wants a new full size truck. Have they figured out all the bugs yet? Or should he steer clear. If the toyota is a no go, what new full size truck would you buy? He doesn't like the Gms with the turob 4.

thank you

I wouldn’t buy one brand new those things have bad engines (toyota had to replace engines in 100k of those vehicles ) If I were you I would get one with the 8 cyl used (2021 or prior) or wait a bit till they get the kinks out of these ones. Realize turbo engines are gonna wear out a lot faster

Toyota's new turbo engines haven't had enough time to prove themselves one way or the other. Scotty has pointed out that going from a larger displacement V8 to a smaller displacement V6 w/turbo means the smaller engine will wear more quickly.

Toyota has had a favorable record, so far, when addressing 'bugs'

If he wants to buy new and wants a full size truck I would definitely go with the Tundra over any other option. While Toyota did have some issues but they've done a good job of addressing it and actually fixing the issues rather than the band aid approach many other manufactures have been using. So yes go with this option over other ones. Unless he can find/wants a used v8 in good condition.

I would rethink buying new in this case, A good used 2021 or older would likely have a ton less issues.
