300k Honda CRV AC fix

Hello! I have a 2002 Honda CRV awd with about 300k miles and the AC finally went out. Wondering if it's going to be worth it to put $2500-$3000 into replacing the entire system. It needs a new compressor, condenser etc. I planned on driving the thing forever but with these brutal northern California summers it's tough without AC especially driving for a living. At $3000 that's half way to another older CRV but they are tough to come by in good shape... Any thoughts would be appreciated. 🙂 Thanks and have a good one!

It needs a new compressor, condenser etc.

How do you know it needs all that? Did the compressor seize up and contaminate the AC system?

Yeah it did unfortunately.. My buddy has a shop and diagnosed it for me. And I had it confirmed at a separate shop. Was going to change the compressor myself but the whole system needs to be redone.

Yeah, unfortunately when a compressor locks up that's what happens. I don't know if it's really worth putting that kind of money into a 22-year-old vehicle. At that age and mileage you could spend all that on the AC system then have the engine or transmission crater on you. A real crap shoot.
