Between the newer years 5.0 and the newer years 3.6 what motor will someone that maintains all scheduled maintenance and not abusive to the motor get more miles from? And how many miles will each of them typically last before major repairs are needed?

I would say that if you NEED to get any of them get a later model pentastar V6. Idk too much about ford 5.0L engines but I have a 2011 300 with the OG pentastar V6 and for the most part is fine. I have a rocker arm a little bit bad but I am sure it will drive like that for a long time( little tick noise that warms up it is mostly gone). Mileage is 144333 btw. 2015 and up pentastars are more reliable than past ones. Also make sure you get an 8 speed tranny since Chrysler sources them from ZF which are pretty reliable trannys.

Still if you don't need any of them just get another brand that is more reliable.

Both have issues. The '18+ 5.0 has oil consumption problems, among many other issues thanks to Ford swapping to plasma lined cylinders.

The later PentaStars are better than the early ones, but still not great. I'd avoid both.

How many miles are you looking to get out of the engine/vehicles in question?
