A year ago we purchased my daughter a 2013 Dodge Avenger with roughly 110,000 miles. The car was perfectly fine and just one day it wouldn’t start however when we turned on the vehicle we noticed an 8 had appeared on the dashboard. Even the trunk wouldn’t open, not with the button or with the key fob. When trying to start there’s absolutely no turn over. Took to a dealership and they “started” with the fuse box has corrosion, it needs to be replaced and that starts around $2000 and that could or couldn’t be the problem. 😳 we’re a single income family with our youngest having autism needing therapy, etc. we can’t afford to start with that and just hope that’s the only issue wrong. I’ve watched your videos before and you’ve helped us in a lot of situations already. Please please help with anything you know about getting the car out of 8th gear or if it could be an electrical issue or anywhere we should start looking, starter, I don’t know. Obviously.
Unfortunately if there is corrosion in the fusebox it's pretty likely that's a flood car, and if that's the case the entire electrical system could be frelled. It should be examined by a good independent mechanic for the possibility of flood damage, and who can use a fancy scan tool to check out the car's modules.
