I'll have the guys working on it check what you mentioned in last comment.

Frankly it's worrisome if the car is in the hands of a mechanic that you would have to tell them to check those items. Any halfway decent mechanic would already do that as standard procedure when diagnosing the kind of problem you're experiencing.

@chucktobias finding that mechanic, I've been praying for that.

And... ?

It might be helpful if you told us what troubleshooting steps you have taken so far. At that age everything has to be considered suspect.

@chucktobias new plugs did not fix the problem, compression tested good

@chucktobias thanks Chuck for your feedback. New Air filter. I'll have the guys working on it check what you mentioned in last comment. Anything else I'm all ears

Unfortunately being pre-OBD2 you don't have live data available. (Maybe dealers back in the day had equipment to do that.) That being the case older "analog" methods need to be used, like backprobing the O2 sensor with a voltmeter to see if it's doing its job.

@chucktobias no engine lights came on

That's pretty much irrelevant given the very limited diagnostic capabilities of OBD1.

@chucktobias I put some of the 505 stuff in about 5 days ago for fuel system

That doesn't mean you have sufficient fuel pressure or even that the injectors are working properly.

You've barely scratched the surface. What about filters? Fuel pressure? Possibly clogged injectors? Throttle body OK? Any vacuum leaks? OBD1 codes? O2 sensor working OK? Any exhaust restrictions, clogged converter etc.?
