Howdy Scotty,

Enjoy and respect your work. I’d appreciate any advice on diagnosing and/or fixing my car problem. My 93 Subaru Impreza 1.8L Automatic Front Wheel Drive has an over heating problem. Found the water pump bearing was completely destroyed and frozen. I replaced the water pump, thermostat, radiator, hoses, temperature sensors (2), timing belt etc. Car now only over heats when stopped. The two radiator fans won’t turn on. The fans do work... turning on the diagnostic test mode runs both fans. Please help, what should I do next? I’ve also burped the cooling system to remove trapped air which is a known problem. Thanks for your help...

If the fans are otherwise OK but not turning on automatically that means the sensor, relay, fuse, electronics, and/or wiring involved in controlling them are faulty. On a car that old everything is suspect. If the problem cannot be easily found you might consider hot-wiring the fans to a switch inside the car.

might want to do a head gasket failure test

You didn't mention anything about a new radiator cap.

Did you check if the sensors are faulty? Even new parts come broken sometimes (alot more recently).
