Hello, i have a 95 gmc sierra 1500 automatic transmission. I drove my truck to the store, no problem. Left the store and suddenly the truck wont shift into 2nd very well and absolutely wont go into 3rd. The fluid was low so i brought it up to level, but still the same problem. Have had no other symptoms, sounds or performance issues, only this all-of-a-sudden not shifting problem. Guess im gonna have to get towed home cuz im not comfortable driving it 15 miles in 2nd😑
Can someone please help me discern what is most likely the problem?

well if it hasn't a vacuum modulators for the shifters replace that because if it's not that odd you're going to need a rebuild on your transmission

Need to pull out my manual and see about replacing that...It has 208083 miles on it which seems a bit soon to need a rebuild, so hopefully its what you said! Thanks for the reply!
How much on the odometer?

What do you think is cheaper? A rebuild or a used tranny?

of course used will be cheaper but I strongly advise against it. You already have a used tranny. You could just end up in the same situation a month from now.

Yea, youre right. Thats the problem with used anything...really not wanting to inherit someone elses problems.
Do you think 208000 is about the average amount of time to need a rebuild or replacement?
a bit below average, but not unheard of. With these trannies, how they wear depends so much on their application and usage.

Well, i got the truck at 60,000 and the couple that had it before me took REALLY good care of it..i just use it as a daily driver since 2010. Its just so weird cuz usually there are signs that the tranny is going out..
well if you're lucky then it'll be a simple fix. Trannies are full of voodoo and it takes a lot of experience to troubleshoot them. So let a professional make the call, because the internet probably won't solve it for ya.
