I purchased a 96 grand marquis. I did minor repairs and it runs great. I do not know how well the car was maintained before I bought it. The transmission seems to be a little squirmy, but shifts well. What t has 127000 miles on it. The car sat for a year without being started before I bought it. Should I change the transmission flui? I don’t know if it has a lever been changed.
Scotty says it may not be a good idea to change it if it hasn’t been changed before. I wasn’t sure if I changed it would it cause problems.
Why not? And try some additive that improves friction if you think it does not shift as it should.

If it has never been changed, I would leave it.
If you do change it, just do a fluid and filter change. Do NOT get a fluid flush.
