Im trying to buy a vehicle, and ive found this 97 f150 supercab long bed 4.6l v8, the individual states that 4wd works great nothing really wrong with it, except rear end is making a noise and gets louder when you go past 40 mph, now i was thinking it has to be wheel bearing right? what else could it be?

Bad bearings don't really get louder with speed. But bad rear differentials do.

I would bet it is the rear diff and that is a pricey repair. I'd pass.
