I'm looking to buy a 97 Toyota Corolla DX for $2400 with 113k mileage. Would it make a good daily driver?

Actually my family's previous daily driver was a 1997 Corolla and we got rid of it with 170k miles because it was an endless money pit. They are good cars but at that age they just fall apart. The price is overprices anyways. Find one from 2004-2008 would be my recommendation, even if it has a little more miles. Have a mechanic check it out either way.
