281521 miles automatic 4x4 4.0 motor. What the best way to see if I have a bad head gasket

Do a compression test, look for white smoke out the exhaust, pressure test the cooling system, check your spark plugs to see if they have antifreeze on them, look for brown mayonnaise on your dip stick.

In addition to looking for the symptoms mentioned, you can get a kit to check for exhaust gases in the coolant.
