I bought a 97 Tacoma 4x4 2.7. The guy said the compressor was locked up so he had pulled the belt off and left it like that for about 6-8 years. I replaced the compressor, condenser, dryer and expansion valve just to be safe. Followed your videos on how to vacume and recharge. Showed no leaks after about an hour after vacume so I added the R134a with a scale. I charged the system but the fitting to pierce the cans seemed to clog or something because I had to keep piercing the can over and over while charging to actually get fluid in the site glass. The compressor came on as it should. Problem I have is the passenger vent is the only one blowing cool air. Not cold but cool. Any suggestions? Did not replace the evaporator while I had it out. Also scared I might have got air in the system because when I tried to purge the line on the first can, all I got out was some of the dye I put in the line. This is when I figured out the clogging issue with the can fitting. Thanks in advance!
What are your system pressures? Did you use pure R134a or did you use cans containing sealer? (Asking due to the clogging problem you mention.) Is the high pressure line near the compressor hot and the low pressure line cold? Bear in mind that if your temperature blend door is not working the AC could be otherwise working but cold air not reaching the vents.
Cooler air on the passenger-side-only is typical of low pressure in the system. Could it be that with the trouble you had with the can, that the pressure might be off?
