Hello Scotty,
Hello all,
Been watching your channel ever since I came to US, 3 years ago.
Recently I am in a position to buy a better car (currently have a 2011 Ford Fiesta).
We have two kids, so we are 4 people. Our kids are growing up and the Fiesta is just too small for our family now.
Been looking at a slightly used 2017 Lexus RX350 (around 22k miles) or a new Hyundai Santa Fe (or a Kia Sorento).
I don't know which is a better buy at this time.
We really like the interior of the Hyundai Santa Fe, but I am thinking that maybe, mechanically the Lexus might be a better buy even though it is slightly used.
The new Hyundai is also a bit more expensive (at 40k), while the Lexus is going for 32k (I do not might shelling an extra 8k, if the Hyundai is a better buy).
Any input on this is greatly appreciated, as this would be my first big purchase in USA :).
Keep up the great work.
Best regards,
Astrit Hoxha
Between the two, definitely go with the Lexus RX350 - no comparison when it comes to long term reliability. Hyundai Motor Group products are not built as well and they have had numerous quality issues, so if you plan to keep your vehicles long term definitely go with the Lexus. Also, the 10 year/100,000 mile Hyundai/Kia warranty only applies to the original owner.
I agree with daywalker, parts and service more with Lexus, but much better components, ride, quality, wow factor, etc. You pay going or pay going out. If you keep a car for year's and take care the lexus would-be a better choice.
Thanks for the answers guys.
So a used 2017 Lexus RX350 is a better buy than a new Hyundai Santa Fe?
Please notice, I am asking about a used RX350 from 2017 with 22k miles vs a new Hyundai Santa Fe.
I would be the original owner of the Hyundai (if I buy it), as I plan on keeping the car for years (until it falls apart :)).
Thanks all.
Go with the Lexus, especially since you mention keeping the car for years (until falls apart). While I can’t tell you 100% you won’t have issues with the Lexus - no one can since we don’t have crystal balls - generally speaking you have a better chance with the Lexus of going the distance.
The lexus is a much better buy.
