Hey Scotty, I'm a member of AARP and I just discovered that AARP endorses this transportation program called Ride@50+ by Feonixmobility which supposedly groups several transportation options all in one place for AARP members. One of the options that displays is Lyft. I recently did a test booking and discovered that the Lyft fare that Ride50 displays is more than what you would be charged if you just booked thru the Lyft app itself. On Lyft the charge was $11.96 but on Ride50 it was $15.02. I did several more price checks and the Ride50 Lyft was always more that regular Lyft. How hypocritical is it that AARP supports a program that takes a basic service available to anyone and upcharges it just for seniors?
Oh they've done some dirty things in their time I once bought one of their senior computer notebooks and it was a pile of crap and finally forced them to give me my money back. Realized like any business they're cutting deals to make a profit. Today you always have to price around with anything
Sadly I'm not surprised. AARP isn't what it used to be.
AARP is just another scam organization, like the American Red Cross that gets blood for free then sells it for $300 a pint to the hospital that sells it back to you for $1000.
You always have to shop around, even places where for years have given good deals may not offer the best deals eventually: can’t be complacent. They count on people being lazy and not searching around (and relying on their supposedly “good” name).
