Ac blows warm intermittently at highway speeds

I have a 2014 honda civic 2.4L.  AC blows cold great for in town driving, but when I’m on the highway for more than 10-15 minutes (on extremely hot days) it will blow warm.  I turn it off for about 30 seconds to a minute, then it will blow cold again when I turn it back on.  I live in AZ, and I’m talking triple digit days, 105+.  I haven’t put gauges on the system yet, but will do so later on today.  I’m just wondering if this has been seen before.  Thanks!

Probably lost some refrigerant. Scotty says Hondas tend to do that. Might also be an electronic problem which would need to be diagnosed with a bidirectional scan tool.

With a variable displacement compressor a low refrigerant level might not be reflected in system pressures unless it is severe. Photos of the compressor look like it has both a clutch and a control valve.
