Hi I drive a 1994 Oldsmobile 98, and my ac compressor has been making this god awful noise when it’s hot outside, it sounds like someone is grinding a sword on a stone. I looked at the compressor and it was flinging out tiny metal shards. Also I have no AC in my car

the pulley or clutch on it is gone

Pray it's just a worn compressor clutch. If the compressor itself is making grinding noises it's contaminating your AC system and nearly all parts would need to be replaced. With the engine off you should be able to turn the compressor crank in its normal direction of rotation by hand. It should turn smoothly with no binding or noise. (It's the center part of the clutch assembly you need to turn, not the pulley, the part labeled "Clutch Plate" in the photo below.)

nice image to illustrate!

Sounds like the compressor is shot.
