AC Fan stops blowing and wipers stopped wiping

Hey Scotty,

Happened twice in a month today being second time.  So far shutting car off and re starting fixed it! I guess? Lol ok 2011 Ford Escape V6.  77,000 miles. I know a little about cars but not the electrical. As far as I knew blower and wipers not related. Nothing else stopped working when this happened. I ordered a Bluetooth scan tool but doubt that will tell me much. Any idea where to start?

Thanks and I love your videos

If that car has a body module that could well be the common factor between the wipers and blower fan.

Can a scan tool narrow this down?

I'm not familiar with your specific vehicle but I would expect so. It probably will require a dealer-level scan tool though ("fancy scan tool" as Scotty calls them) to communicate with all of the car's modules.

Whatever happened to the good old days where wipers were wipers and a blower fan was a blower fan and all that stood in between those items was a switch and a fuse

I know, it's ridiculous. In Scotty's videos he talked about a car, a VW I think, where the wipers stopped working and it was going to cost over $1000 to repair! Hopefully yours won't be that bad. (I'd be sorely tempted to figure out hotwiring the affected items if it came to that!)

Agreed!
