AC not working

Scotty we have a 2005 scion xb with a little over 150thousnd miles and everything works great. We bought it brand new with only 12 miles. Anyhow the ac stopped working a year ago and we've had it checked out by 3 different shops and by my stepson who is an awesome mechanic and body repair guy. There's a leak somewhere but no one has found it. Could it possibly be under or behind the dashboard?

It’s possible, find it hard to believe no one can find the leak. Since it’s possible that it may be in the dash you don’t wanna use UV dye. You can purchase a freon leak detector for 30-40 bucks. Charge the system, while running the AC stick the leak detector nozzle in the AC vent. If it alerts your problem is more than likely in the dash. If it doesn’t alert use it under the hood see where it does alert, can also use dye as well.   Some leaks are just hidden well, examples, my accumulator is installed beneath my headlight, the condenser coil can leak between itself and the radiator.
