Acceleration Pop

Topic starter

2007 Pontiac Grand Prix. 3800 motor. 165000 miles.

I have a "POP" that seems to be related to accelerating from a stop or very low speed. Sometimes seems to be related to steering but it happens with the wheels straight also. Lighter acceleration helps a bit. It definitely seems torque related. All of the suspension, control arms, tie rod ends, and wheel bearings are only a few months old. I was thinking it could be cv axles but it doesn't repeat like I would expect from that. Just a single "POP" on acceleration and a pop back when I slow down. Cv boots look fine. Could it be an axle? My brain painted a picture that it could be the transmission mount so I changed that but no luck. What else could it be? The car otherwise rides very smooth. No odd vibrations or shaking.

Thanks!

P.s. please don't say bad transmission, please don't say bad transmission, please don't say bad transmission 🙃

All right, I won't say bad transmission, but I'm certainly thinking that. Now if it is a pretty loud noise, do my video finding the source of car noises Scotty. It's on YouTube and the machine like that can pinpoint any noise
