Should I put additives in my automatic transmission

I have a 2003 Toyota Corolla automatic transmission with 200,000 miles I’m about to do a drain and fill with the transmission fluid and per Scotty’s instructions I was going to add a bottle of ATP-205 reseal but he also mentioned to add 10 ounces of synthetic ATF “LubeGaurd” To your transmission on a recent video for preventative maintenance I was wondering is it OK to add both There’s a drain and fill?

You should put a new filter in too, along with the drain and fill.  I would not use any additives.

With that mileage, if the transmission has not been serviced, first check the fluid conditions and then make a decision. About adding additives, if the transmission does not have issues, do not bother.

I personally never heard about transmission additives, only fuel additives which are worth it.

About changing transmission oil, make sure you have confirmed with the car manual, and the brand itself which oil is specifically.

This, because unlike engine oil, some car transmissions can only accept their own transmission oil brand, at a specific quantity.

I guess if nothing is wrong with your transmission, just do what is recommended in the official documentation.

Also confirm that info with some dealership, since transmission oil is a more sensible/permanent operation, than engine oil.

4 answers telling you not to use any additives, and now the fifth answer saying it’s not required, especially if you’re not facing any transmission issues.

I wouldn’t do this. Just use them OEM fluid and follow the guidance provided in your owner’s manual and the forum FAQ.

All the best!

I appreciate all the responses but none of them are to the actual question that I had. Scotty Kilmer has videos obviously on a ATP205-reseal but he also has another video on the “Lubeguard” for  the transmission I just wanted to make sure that it would be safe for me to put both of those products at the same time into my transmission when I do a drain and fill?

You got your answers above: do not add any additives esp. if there’s no issues. Also, ATP205 is not for transmission use.

I wouldn't unless you're having some type of problems with the transmission. Please before doing a flush and fill be sure to check the fluid and make sure it is not black or smells burnt, as this will cause your transmission to slip.
