Should I buy this 26-year-old RAV4 for $9,000?

Hey Scotty, So I'm in need of a vehicle and have bad credit. A buy here pay here dealer has a 97 Toyota Rav4 for about 9,000 dollars and it has less than 80,000 original miles. Is it something worth purchasing?

No. Run away as fast as you can from that deal. A 25-year-old car with less than 100k miles being sold at a dealership, there's definitely something fishy here.

I don't know where your budget stands but there are plenty of good cars that you can buy for $10k or less at a private party.

Stay away from Buy Here Pay Here (BHPH) dealers! They are the worst bottom feeders and ripoff artists you'll ever meet. That is an insane ripoff price for 26-year-old RAV4 and the mileage very unlikely to be true. They have probably already sold it and repo'd it several times. That's the way those guys operate, they get at least what they paid for the vehicle with the down payment and then when the victim falls behind in payments the car is repossessed and resold to another victim.

Here is an example of a typical experience with a BHPH vehicle:
