Do you already have the truck, or are you looking for one? The title of your post made it look like you're considering buying one, then the "meat" of your question seems like you've already bought it.

If it's the former, no, any Dodge product of that age is well past its prime. My father-in-law has a 1998 Dodge Ram 2500 turbodiesel made by Cummins. He very rarely drives it. The radio doesn't work, and the heater works when it wants to. The Dodge trucks were made by Daimler-Chrysler, the parent company of Mercedes-Benz. They were a little bit better made while they were owned by them. Any quality improvement will have long since declined by now. Dodge products of that age also tend to rot out. My father-in-law's truck's frame is still solid, but cosmetically, it's a disaster. It runs and drives after 220k miles, but that's about it. If you want a beater that runs and drives, fine, if you can get one for a few hundred dollars. Don't expect it to last.

@justin-shepherd the title was added by me. It was my best guess because I couldn't understand the post, and the original title "advice regarding plug and play" made no sense at all to me.

I tried to look for the "title edited by" thing, but I couldn't find it. I'm at my computer, usually I'm on my cell phone. The phone has "Title edited by..."

@justin-shepherd yeah it doesn't always show as edited for some reason. But the URL still has the original title. Not sure if your phone shows that.

Indeed it does, I just got on my phone and it does show the original title.

@justin-shepherd thank yall I di have the truck 270k miles motor is something I can work on but the tranny isn't doing good and I wanna see about buying a set to I can take out what's in there and just put something newer I've heard ebay was good but a bit pricey aswell n idk about junkyard so I'd like some honest advice regarding the truck u have

Ram pickups are awful trucks. Especially the 1/2 tons. Rife with problems, not least of which are weak transmission. Scotty always tells viewers to stay away from Chrysler products. If you replace the transmission you'll still be in the same boat. Get rid of it!

eBay is a goldmine for potential counterfeit parts. I ordered a genuine AC/Delco brake master cylinder off of Amazon a few years ago, even that was a dud. As soon as I bench bled it, the brake master cylinder started leaking internally again.  Any truck you find at the junkyard that old more than likely already has problems similar to yours. That's why they scrapped it.

If you like the truck, it is in good shape otherwise, consider buying a remanufactured one through a reputable supplier. A good one will be a 5-year, unlimited mileage warranty, with the catch that a certified mechanic must put the transmission into the vehicle.  I wouldn't say it's worth it, unless you have sentimental value toward the truck.
