I have a 2005 toyota matrix xr automatic with about 157,000 miles. I would like to get your opinion on if adding a AOS to the car would be a good idea?

You are talking about an oil catch can that is installed in line with the PCV valve system. Lots of opinions about these but I think they're a waste of money, people usually forget to empty and maintain them, and it's an alteration of a vehicle emission control system which is illegal.
Are there any decent cheap ones out there? I'd run a breather like I used to but I'm sure the ecu would have a coniption fit.
Not worried about legalities as I can always remove it prior to emissions, just really don't like running a dirty intake charge.
