Hi Scotty,
I own a 2007 Honda Accord 153k miles.
I drove over a railroad track and my passenger side curtain airbag deployed, thank goodness there was no passenger in the car. Now this is not a rough rail track, as a matter of fact the track is pretty close to the asphalt.
I contacted the nearest Honda dealer to see if there had been a recall for the side curtain airbag and they said no, but told me to call my insurance company, which I did. The insurance company said I needed to take my car in the have it checked to see why it deployed. Well Honda did a diagnostic check and could not find a reason for the deployment. But said it could be corrosion or rust, but there was no way to find out unless they took the car apart.
I value your opinion and wanted to know what your thoughts were on the matter?
obviously Honda doesn't want to take responsibility. If you really care you should have requested an independent diagnosis. If not just replace it and move on. If you want insurance to cover it then I guess you have to let them take it apart but there are no guarantees.
@imperator thanks for your response. I think I’ll just have it replaced on my own.
