Are aluminum engine blocks better

Hi guys. I’ve seen a lot people saying this have a aluminum block my questions is aluminum block better than cast iron block? Is it stronger than cast iron? Is more long lasting?

Aluminum is lighter than cast iron, but definitely not stronger. As far as lifespan, just depends on how you treat it.

A lot can be said about this topic but I’ll just say that generally speaking, cast-iron is stronger with harder surface that is less prone to wear.  So, the cylinder walls can be integrated as part of the block itself.  However, they are heavier than aluminum.  While aluminum is lighter, it’s also softer material that can wear quicker which is why aluminum blocks have cylinders with liners or sleeves made of cast-iron, ductile-iron, or steel.  (Also, some now use plasma-spraying coating in lieu of liners/sleeves.)
