Hey there, as the title implies I have 17k in cash I can use towards a vehicle. Any suggestions? (If I have to finance some that is okay too.) I need something very reliable. I live near Houston and breaking down on the side of the road in the heat is a no go.
I do carpentry and prefer it be able to haul lumber even if that means I need to get a utility trailer.
Any suggestions? TIA!
carpenter here. Driving a newer model GM full size van.
I have 10 feet of cargo room up to the back of the seat. 12 if I go right up to the console.
Everything stays nice and dry inside. No need to strap material down. My tools are secure. Sliding door is easy to open in tight spaces. Short nose is also easy to turn in tight spaces.
They are pretty reliable. No stupid cylinder deactivation, or fancy technology on these workhorses. V8 has oodles of power.
If you could pick up any Silverado from the 99-07 generation (GMT800) with the 6.0 vortec I would say you’re golden. Pretty reliable motors. After that, no.
Thanks! I will check those out!
I would check an older Ford Super Duty or an older RAM with the Cummins Diesel engine.
