AT-205 Success in a 44-Year-Old Car

I thought I'd share that my 1979 Pontiac Catalina's input shaft seal is no longer leaking. I put AT-205 in the pan around 2 days before the rear main seal went completely out. It only leaked a quart or so every 3-6 months, so I thought I might give it a try, then the rear main went. I bought an input shaft seal for the garage to put in while they were tearing the car apart to change the rear main and requested that it be replaced. Since the transmission didn't need to come out to get at the rear main, they didn't pull it. After they put it back together, they cleaned the oil out of the bell housing and checked for leaks a few times, they said the input shaft seal was no longer leaking. I've driven it around 200 miles since the rear main replacement and there are no spots under the car when I park.

Sounds good. Let us know how it holds up over time.

I put some in my Camaro 2-3 years ago. Hasn't dripped since. That stuff is legit.

Well, it slowed down the leak, but it didn't stop completely. I started the Pontiac for the first time in 8 months. I wound up using a gallon of transmission fluid (the whole transmission uses around 2.5 gallons). I guess the transmission input shaft seal is torn. That transmission still shifts great. I was afraid it might start slipping after all of the new fluid.
