I have a 2008 Chrysler 300, it has approximately 73000 miles on it. About a month ago I had a new battery installed in my car and my car was running fine until last night. I, drove to a restaurant to pick up some food and while sitting in my car waiting for the food to be brought to my car, I noticed my battery light come on, and then a weird smell started like plastic burning or something. I, got my food and started to drive away and noticed my headlights dimming and my power steering going away , then my car completely stalled. What could be the problem?

weird smell started like plastic burning

then it probably left you some evidence to find. Pop the hood. Look for melted or scorched wire insulation, burnt fuses, etc.

Is there any custom or aftermarket wiring in your car? speaker systems etc..

Well either your alternator has gone bad, or the fan belt that drives it has melted, or the wiring that feeds the alternator has melted cuz you smelled things. When the battery light comes on. That means the alternator isn't charging the battery and any of three of those can do it

An illuminated battery light on your dash is usually indicative of a bad alternator. Your alternator recharges the battery as you're driving the car. Once the alternator stops recharging the battery, your car will eventually die.
