What would be a good reliable car with the best or strongest suspension for driving in Big Cities like New York City, Newark, NJ and Chicago that are all full of bumps and potholes?
Or...can a regular dependable be have it's suspension reinforced or updated?
I think tires play a big roll too, maybe there are some tires that absorb impact better
True, but it only goes so far....Where I'm at, it's crater city...so I need to really look into a good suspension.
I've found my old (1999) Jeep Cherokee with solid axles front and rear to be a very good city car aside from the lousy gas mileage. Being designed for off-road use it takes poorly-maintained city streets in its stride. Tires have wide sidewalls to help absorb impact. Also it's compact, maneuverable, has great visibility, and the 4.0 six has plenty of torque for darting around.
