Hello from England scotty

I have a 2008 Nissan navara 2.5T dci runs great but alot of black smoke comes out the exhaust when I accelerate. I've changed the air filter and fuel filter cleaned the maf sensor already I always add fuel additives to try clean it out but now I'm just stuck.

Thank you in advance love the channel you make me want to be a good mechanic as we don't have many honest ones here in England.

Black smoke on hard acceleration is pretty normal for Diesel engines. Is yours excessive? Is it more than before?

Your diesel particulate filter (DPF) is probably clogged, buy a bottle of DPF cleaner (Wynn's if you can get it, probably can in UK) dump it into half a tank of fuel and take it for a LONG drive (1hr minimum) on a motorway.

Realize this, every car needs a long drive at high revs every so often to burn away any carbon deposits, but a diesel requires it more often as by design they're more suited to longer distance driving
