So I bought a 2006 Buick Lucerne (Northstar engine, automatic) from a dealership recently with 85000 miles and after I got it home I found the key fob and the trunk release in the glove box don't work. Called out a locksmith and they got it open, but they said to fix the problem I'd have to take it to a Buick dealer. Do you recommend I take it to a dealer or would a regular mechanic be able to fix the problem?
Thanks,
Tim Jordan

You still can open the trunk via release button in the driver side. Correct?

You said you got the car from a dealership and they couldn't figure it out. Why make the same mistake twice?
It was a used car dealership and they're not associated with Buick.
