Yup. 2008 Merc Sable Prem. My son and I, learning auto stuff together. And now SCOTTY'S videos. I have 14 years of video's to binge watch. Anyway, God only knows how bad this #6 cylinder is messed up from previous owners neglect to fix right away. I stuck a endoscope down in there just for fun since the plug and COP's we replaced did not fix anything. Question is, As dirty and splotchy as it looked, How BAD can this be?? Can I clean it somehow? It needs new O2Sensors. They must be original with 209k on them. Open loop fault and testing them with fancy tools and data feed pointed us to that conclusion. Of course after we fix what has really caused this P0356 coil f primary/secondary fault, will we ever get the #6 back to life?
Have you done a wet/dry compression test? That would either diagnose or rule out a lot of problems and tell you if it was an expensive or cheap fix

Thanks Glen. I am an inexperienced Newby to auto maintenance and repair DIY. Only recentlay taken interest in trying to learn how to do these things. Obviously having made many incorrect diagnosis, technical errors and really just googling and You Tube ing. Only recently following Kilmer. First forum also. Appreciate receiving knowledgeable approaches and really what the heck to do. Its not a money issue, but a desire to learn by doing, picking up what I can. However I really do want this car fixed and im not ready to throw in the towel and hand it over to a professional. I am in a line of work that I have expertise of 35 years of experience in, that many DIYers think they can do also. But to me they are no where close. Like me thinking I can be a mechanic. LOL.
