I'm looking for a rebuild kit for Bendix front brake calipers for a 1981 Mercedes 240D. Was wondering if anyone here has any thoughts on where I can find one? Haven't had any luck in finding one so thought someone might know of some place I don't know about.
You could chance Rock Auto.. they show one in stock for a Bendix caliper.... if I recall correctly, there is a difference between ATE and Bendix, but it has been too long for me to be certain. I sometimes find myself cold calling other repair shops out of town that specialize in whatever is giving me heartburn at the moment... I've scored several parts made of moon metal and unobtainium that way, over the years.. good luck!

Thanks, but I already tried these and didn't work/weren't compatible with the current calipers on the car.
Are the calipers stock or after market (Wildwood, Brembo, etc)?
They're Bendix calipers for the front. It's not the ones that initially came on the car.
Are you able to find any numbers stamped anywhere on the caliper?

Bendix brake calipers have been used on a huge number of vehicles over a period of decades, everything from Studebaker and Rambler in the 1960s to modern cars. If you can determine a part number or what car the calipers originally fit it should be no problem to get a rebuild kit.
It's for the front calipers on a 1981 Mercedes 240D if this helps.
Problem is if they are not originally for that car figuring out just what it is that they originally fit. Are they old-school fixed piston calipers or newer type sliding calipers? Are they maybe from a newer Mercedes?
Are they anything like this dual-piston fixed caliper said to be for Mercedes? (Not that I recommend buying brake parts from ebay, this is just for example.)
