2020 Toyota Corolla 90k miles, original brake pads & rotors. Front brakes: inner brake pad on front right is about 1/16” of pad left. Outer pad of same wheel, and both pads on front left, those 3 pads all have about 1/8” left. Do I have an issue that needs further inspection, or do I just replace all front brake pads and inspect them periodically going forward?
Don't see any significant issue based on those measurements. When replacing the pads put some lube on the caliper slide pins.Do I have an issue that needs further inspection, or do I just replace all front brake pads and inspect them periodically going forward?
1/16" difference is pretty insignificant. Maybe it's possible, but I've never seen pads with perfectly even wear.
When you change your pads, make sure you wire brush and clean the brackets/calipers. Get rid of all the rust where the pads touch other parts, and apply a light film of grease or rust protectant like Krown. Change the stainless steel liners every time ... where those go are the contact areas you need to pay attention to. you want clean metal underneath them at all times, or the pads will start to bind.
