I recently purchased a 2024 Honda HR-V Sport from my local Honda dealership. Everything was going great until about a week ago when I started hearing a rattle at around 30+ MPH when I went to accelerate. I immediately took it to the dealership to have them try and diagnose the problem, to which they informed me that the noise is perfectly normal since it has a CVT transmission. I didn't buy that, as I've had previous vehicles with CVT transmissions and never heard a rattle like that when accelerating. When I got home, I inspected the heat shielding, but didn't notice anything loose or out of the ordinary.
Doing some research, older models seem to have an issue with O2 sensors becoming loose, or having issues related to the catalytic converter.
Any ideas on what I can ask my dealership to look at?
Thanks!
Well, since they're b*********** you, they don't really care. If you do want to find the source of the noise to watch my video finding the source of car noises Scotty. It's on YouTube. Once you figure where the noise is coming from then they have no excuse and I'll have to fix it
Any more news about the rattle? I have the 2024 HR-V LX, and I have a couple noises I hear. One is like you wrote. When I’m going 30 mph or so and put more pressure on the pedal like going up a hill, I hear the rattle. To me, it sounds like the knocking a car gets with low octane gas or piston pinging. I use top tier gas. I want to find out if it is actually piston knocking but I fear the dealership will just give the runaround. I just saw your post and thought I’d ask you. Thanks
try putting in some high octane fuel, and see if it gets better.
