Hi, scotty, you have transform my ability to understand my cars. Bought a scan tool and already diagnose maf sensor replacement, air bag sensor and more saving time and hundreds of dollars. I'm looking to replace a 2002 Acura MDX, I replaced the automatic transmission at 160k with Jasper transmission, got 40k miles just over 3 years, just out of warranty, then 3 gears slips, still driving it in town for almost two years by shift manually. So ringings true to want you often say about rebuit transmissions and being able to continue to drive cars. Paid almost $5000 so got screwed on that.
I'm looking to replace it with a buick rainer, last year made was 2007, I'm hoping to find one from a private party, inline 6, most are All-wheel driveway, so will likely have to settle on that and needed for Chicago area winters, looks to go for between $2000- 5000 when mileage is between 100k to 130k miles. Year is 2007.
I can't afford highlander. I've had good luck with a 97 buick Riviera that was still going at 250k miles original engine, trans. And super charger. Loved those round fenders and curves on it. Now I have a 2005 buick lesabre with 150k. Both had the 3800 v6. Great but did use 1 quart of oil per 3000 miles after 100k mileage.
Does the buick rainer 2007 with low 100k miles and in line 6 engine have similar reliability as these older previous buicks or are gone the way of recent GM junk products?
Well I'm not a GM fan but that inline six cylinder engine is a pretty good engine and the transmission is attached to isn't bad either so it could be a decent vehicle if you find a used one that a mechanic okays
