Buy 11 year old car with 44,000 miles?

Hey Scotty,

Would you recommend buying a 2010 Toyota Rav4 4cyl with only 44,000 miles on it - private seller, or is the fact that it has such low miles more of a problem than one with maybe 100,000 miles?

How much?

Price will definitely be a factor. Also, bear in mind that although the mileage is low, all the rubber hoses and bushings are 11 years old so there may be some in need of replacement.

I agree....

Low mileage would not be a dealbreaker as long as it was well taken care of.  Since it is from a private seller, you can ask them why mileage is low but maybe they have other vehicles and just don’t drive much.  Anyhow, be sure to have a trusted mechanic also check it out before you buy.

Usually older people don't much miles on their cars. Anyway test it and have it checked by a mechanic if you like it.

Good luck!

Have a mechanic check it out and don't pay much is the key

As long as it is in good condition, expect another 10 years and another 100,000 miles.
