I read that Consumer Reports recommended the 2007 Outlander for best SUV under 10K. Do you agree with this this and if so if i buy a 2010 model (seems to be in the same generation) with less than 100K miles? And should i stick with the V6 or go with the 2.5L ?
I cannot understand why Consumer Reports would say that the Outlander is the best SUV under $10,000. Mitsubishi has been known to have quality and reliability issues. I would buy a Nissan before I would buy a Mitsubishi.
They might be OK cars but that list was compiled from data 5 6 years ago I watch car reviews of the Outlander and the way it drives and the doors closing can be defined with two words: tin can
Also I would not pay more than 3500 or so for a 14 year old Outlander.
I don't think I would go as far as to put Nissan over Mitsubishi, the most common problems on Mitsus are the CVT's and turboed straight 4's. Those models tend to have problematic transmissions, but at the end of the day it's a cheap car. I would say go for it if you need three cheap rows, but don't expect it to be anything outrageously reliable.
