Hello Scotty, I am a teenager and I wanted to buy a used car during next summer. I was looking at old hybrids but you said those are bad. So I don’t really know what car to get. Would you recommend any. My budget is around $7,500, I want a car that gives around 28-30 mpg, and a very reliable car that I can use for a long time. Also should I buy a manual. I asked my parents but they said it’s not a good idea but I really want one.
If you've watched Scotty's videos then you know the answer is going to be a used Toyota or Honda. If you can handle a stick shift you'll avoid a load of potential issues that can develop with an automatic transmission. You'll want to avoid specific models that have problems (search the board here) and have any prospective purchase checked out by a good mechanic.
Definitely go with a manual transmission if you can find one.
