I have a 2018 Honda Civic 1.5l Turbo. It creates an annoying buzzing noise every time i accelerate/Go to high rpms. I have a video recording of the sound. Can anyone help me figure it out? Its been driving me crazy for months. Whats Scotty's email. Please help
I figured out what the problem was. It was something to do with my oil catch can. So I took that off and replaced it with the OEM pcv hose, and now the noise is gone🙌🏼
look for loose parts under the hood and under the car
upload your video to Youtube and post the link here. Does it buzz if you rev the engine in park?
Its driving me absolutely crazy. I cant find any particularly loose hoses or anything obvious
It's under warranty right. Have you tried taking it to Honda?
Do you have access to another 2018 Civic like yours? Does it make a similar sound when accelerating? Perhaps the dealership test drive vehicle?
Unfortunately i dont have access to another 2018 Civic. The Dealership doesnt have one
So itโs been making this sound recently? Or from day 1?
For the last 10k miles or so
Does it do it when youโre in park and you rev the engine? Also whatโs the present mileage?
No it does not. It only makes that noise while the car is moving
Present Mileage? If itโs only happening when youโre moving, it may be your wheel bearing or (hopefully not) CVT transmission. Use this to pinpoint the general location of the noise. If you still have any warranty remaining, Iโd let Honda fix it for free.
I don't hear anything
Check the Subwoofer I had the same noise on my 2000 Acura TL. I ended up disconnecting it and the noise went away. It might be of bad wires or a aftermarket head unit. Good Luck!
Do you know where i can disconnect that? Ive looked in the fuse box and i cant find that fuse anywhere
There is a connector that connects the sub woofer to the speaker wire. Try unplugging it and see if that solves the problem. Also do you have the original stereo or any modifications made to the stereo system? Does the noise get louder when you turn on the air conditioner or head lights?
I have no idea where to even begin looking for the subwoofer/wires. I have the OEM speaker/stereo system. I only hear the noise when im stepping on the gas pedal, and when im in cruise control. When i let off the gas, the sound goes away completely.
I have my owners manual here, but all the fuses are labeled 10a, or 15a the layout on the fuse box cover doesnt look the same as the actual fuse layout itself
Have someone help you step on the accelerator and put your ear against each speaker to rule out if its a speaker causing the problem. If it is not the speaker than it could be any other electrical part. Another idea to try is to disconnect the stereo fuse and see if the sound is being caused by the stereo just make sure to have your stereo code if you have one. Check with Honda If you still have your warranty most likely they can fix it for free.
Honda fuse boxes are strange sometimes there are fuse diagram on the fuse panel itself and it should be in the correct orientation that the fuses are in. Look for a fuse that says accessory or something like that.
Which fuse box are you looking at ( cabin driver, cabin passenger, or under hood )
It could also be your amplifier. Try looking for fuse 19 and 20 in the engine compartment check to see of 20 is blown. if not see if those systems are causing your problem by removing those fuses they should be labels audio and amp. Removing them should not interfere with any other components.
Good thing it was not an electrical problem. Glad to hear you got it fixed.
