Camry 2006 [Khaleeji v4] [250k KMs] Fuel Consumption, Brake Noise, and No Deceleration
I have
Scanned the car comp for codes (no errors),
cleaned the fuel injectors with the machine,
changed the spark plugs as they were won out,
the mechanic replaced a sensor (mass air flow sensor)idk why?,
And lastly, I don't rev the car unnecessarily I drive around 2300 rpm most of the time
Still too much fuel consumption 60 litres it goes 370kms only highway barely any city (Dubai 35-42 C).
Also the tires are Yokohama 2019 ones, didn't do tire alignment so the car keeps swerving left ig
also on turning the acceleration is noticeably slow to respond like power comes late maybe axle issue?
Recently rebuild the engine as there was an oil leak as well,
replaced the front ring rods and lower arms,
changed the gear and engine oil,
changed the brake pads front and back,
polished and checked all 4 drums (no random unintentional breaking to my knowledge),
but upon braking there's a low screech noise even after taking the tires out and putting the brakes system again properly.
And the third issue is some weird very low eerie noise coming when the car decelerates (some mechanic told me it might be a gear bearing) and also the car doesn't decelerate even after leaving the accelerator for a while on a flat road like it stays at 40 for a whole minute sometimes.
Please Guide me I'm a single student living alone I DON'T WANT TO GET RIPPED OFF MECHANICS MORE OR BE BROKE COZ I HAVE TO KEEP PAYING FOR FUEL and REPAIR
I've spent 4000+AED on the car already
Recently rebuild the engine
If this wasn’t done correctly, it might be the root of all your other powertrain issues.
Do you have the option of selling this vehicle, as-is, and buying another Corolla/Civic which is in good condition?
Hello, do you have an OBD2 reader, if so could you post the fuel trim long and short term and the throttle position at idle the reading of the MAF at idle. Also if you could post a video with sounds you hear.
Highway driving is it on E311/E611, as both roads get backed up with stop and go traffic with people heading home from work going into Sharjah, are you driving at that time or when the roads are free.
Also check your tires if they are wearing out. I'm no mechanic but I'm the car guy my friends go to and based on my experience a car that consumes fuel that much is usually due to multiple things and not just a single problem. What fuel grade do you use 91, 95 or 98.

I don’t have one but I can hopefully get the readings from a local repair shop.
I’ll try to record and catch the noise and post

No I hate traffic I never drive when there’s traffic on the highway.

okay the tires aren’t in that bad of a condition. I’m going to replace by the end of this year anyway
Yea feels like quite a few things are wrong with my cat tbh

I use special 95 and I’ve used liqui moly and ATP fuel injector cleaners like a combined total of 4 times now

Ok it looks like you know how to maintain your car, you could try putting higher octane gas (98) and see if that helps.

This is a great option you should look into. On dubizzle a similar car is about AED 11k. Maybe this is an option you should look into.
This video from scotty may help
I wish I could be of more help. I'm still waiting for the readings and the video when you can.
Wish you all the best.
