Can a 2001 Honda Accord engine fit in a 2000 subaru outback legacy limited sedan
No - it would require MAJOR modification.
It’d cost much more than buying a junkyard Subaru engine, probably even more than probably a 2010 Subaru - and it probably will never work correctly.
Dan is right. No.
It would be easier to fit a Mustang 5.0 V8 into a Saab 900. (In other words, NO.)

I highly doubt an Accord engine can fit in a Subaru without serious modification.
Subaru’s are boxer engines. Accord is an inline engine.
The closest engine that might have a chance of fitting is a Porsche boxer engine, but that is still a long shot.
motor would most likely be too tall and long
Whats the hate for the subie engine?
It should be a straight forward swap
Get a Porsche 911 engine.
how bout a 6 cyl Lycoming engine out of a Cessna?
Great idea!
A Subie with that flat 4 would be hard to fit anything but. I like the porsche idea. {black}:scared:
